They gave everything. Now it’s our turn. Since October 7th, Israel has lost many heroes, and behind each one is a widow facing unimaginable grief. From the start, the Israel Alliance has supported over 200 women through our Widows of Warriors program. With the Adopt-a-Widow program, we turn support into connection.

This isn’t just giving — it’s sharing a journey. A year of presence, care, and friendship that helps a widow and her family begin to heal.

Through the Adopt-a-Widow program, you’ll walk alongside a widow and her family during one of the hardest years of their lives.

Adopting a widow is a one-year commitment that pairs monthly financial support with a meaningful, personal connection. The required donation is $600 USD per month ($7,200 per year). The program includes:

A monthly stipend to help with childcare, cooking, cleaning, and any other needs.
Extra financial assistance before holidays and gifts to mark life milestones.
Ongoing emotional encouragement and direct communication with the widow throughout the year.

Many of these widows are not yet able to return to work as they face unimaginable grief, trauma, and the full responsibility of raising children alone. Your support will lift that burden — and help her rebuild her life with dignity, strength, and hope.

Our team will review your questionnaire and carefully match you with a widow whose needs align with your support.

Once matched, you’ll embark on a personal journey of support and connection with a widow, guided by our team every step of the way.

Please note:

Participation in the Adopt-a-Widow program involves a financial commitment of $600 per month for one year, totaling $7,200 USD. This support directly aids a widow and her family in rebuilding their lives.

Are there widows who speak English?

Yes. Some widows are comfortable speaking English, and others speak other languages.

All widows speak Hebrew. When you apply, we ask which languages you speak so we can thoughtfully match you with a widow you’ll be able to communicate with — helping foster a genuine and lasting relationship.

Can I adopt a widow if I don't plan on visiting Israel?

Absolutely!

Thanks to video calling and WhatsApp, it’s easy to build a meaningful relationship no matter where you are in the world. Emotional support knows no borders — your presence, encouragement, and care can make a powerful impact from anywhere.

Can I join the program without the financial commitment?

The financial support is a vital part of the Adopt-a-Widow program. Many widows are still unable to return to work, and your monthly contribution serves as a true lifeline — helping them provide for their families, heal, and rebuild with dignity. For this reason, both emotional connection and financial support are required to participate. However, you can reach out to us to learn about volunteer opportunities through our Widows of Warriors program — another meaningful way to support these women on their journey.

Is it possible for more than one family to jointly adopt a widow?

Yes, multiple families can join together to adopt one widow. However, there will be only one designated contact person who will serve as the point of connection with the widow.
